Payback!

Okay, for those of you reading this right now, you are aware (due to it being the cause of your reading this page) that Ms. Attitude published a rather nice post about me today.  I'm a little bit behind, as I understand she's been saying great things about me on her blog for years.  Therefore, it's payback time!

To start, I want to say thanks to Ms. Attitude for the wonderful introduction to her readers and friends. You are too kind!

We have been friends for a long time, though I don't like to think about the exact number of years as it makes me feel nigh on ancient, and she's correct - we do not have a lot in common.  What we do have in common is a tendency toward nerd-ism and a love of wine.  However, our crazy friendship works out for many reasons, one of which being her easy sense of humor (she did call me funny, right?)  She is loyal and supportive and the most motivated and organized person I know.  She is also strong.  Much stronger that she gives herself credit for, and I admire her for this.  If I had half the sense of what I want to do with my life and half of the confidence or motivation she has, I might actually be doing something I love right now. Everything she does, she puts her whole heart into it.  She doesn't half-ass anything and I appreciate her enthusiasm spilling over into my own life.

Enough of that!  I promise this will be the only mushy post on my blog - I will never again say anything nice about her. Well, maybe in the future...

Okay, I'm back!

Hello again!

Boy, I really thought that (seeing as how I don't have a job right now) I'd have a lot more time to post on this blog of mine.  It's funny how I've actually had less free time this past week.  Let's see what you've missed... Oh yeah, my garden is really taking off, I have good sized sprouts of almost everything I planted.  Now I have to re-pot most of it as the plants need bigger spaces.  I knew I was going to lose all of that space in the dining room!  I've also read a couple of books, so I'm only 30 books away from meeting my 50 book goal. Now, I do have to say that a few of those books weren't very big.  I've been trying to get Little A into reading, so I read the Spiderwick Chronicles with him, but it doesn't matter - I'm counting them anyway!
Now on to job prospects.  I have an interview tomorrow!  I'm so excited about this interview.  I've really been enjoying staying home, but I do need to pay my bills, plus I'd get to travel a little bit.  Yay!  I also met up with The Enforcer yesterday and did a little bit of wedding planning.  I spent much of that time trying to get demoted to bridesmaid so I won't have to give a speech,  but The Enforcer was not having it.  Damn!

On that note, I'll go ahead and end this post.  I have a filing cabinet to clean out.  Who said staying home isn't oodles of fun?

Doo-do-do-dooo! Book Review!

Good morning!  Here is my first book review and I'm going to warn you all - my reviews will be very simple, limited to basically whether I liked it or not.  No deconstructing the story or finding symbolism here!

As part of my 50 books for 2015, I've read The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski.

After a car accident in which her passenger, Marissa, dies, June Parker finds herself in possession of a list Marissa has written: “20 Things to Do by My 25th Birthday.” The tasks range from inspiring (run a 5K) to daring (go braless) to near-impossible (change someone’s life).
To assuage her guilt, June races to achieve each goal herself before the deadline, learning more about her own life than she ever bargained for.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book.  It had ups and downs (meaning I laughed and cried, just a little bit) and it really made me think.  In addition, it was well written and easy (quick) to read.  I rated this one 4 out of  5 stars and would read it again.  Thanks go out to the friend who recommended this book to me!

Day One

Hellooo world!

Today is my introduction to the masses.  Being the oldest 30-year-old I know, I have no social networking or internet communication experience (aside from email.)  Unless you count having a Pinterest account, which I was recently informed was social networking.  Also, I keep track of books I've read on Goodreads, which is also considered social networking, I suppose.  I guess I'll backtrack now and say that I have limited experience online as I don't use any of those sites as they're intended to be used - to interact with others, and I'm not really sure how all of it works.  Prior to this day, I've had no desire to share a bunch of random information about myself with a bunch of people who don't actually know me.  I have no Facebook, Twitter, etc.  For now, anyway.  I'm not quite ready to open that can of worms.

As I said, I am old.  My friends and family often tease me for being 80 (an obvious exaggeration.)  What? Just because I sit with my lap blanket, wear sweaters, and crochet sometimes?  Maybe it's my poor circulation or the fact that I was so stressed out by my job that I broke out in shingles (apparently that's not something only old people get.)  Who knows? The fact is, I have been feeling great since my last official day of work!  It doesn't even matter that I haven't found a replacement job.  Well, it matters a little, but I'm not going to let it get me down.  In fact, I'm pretty sure I've gone a little crazy.  For starters, I decided to get a little online experience so that I won't be passed over for another job opportunity. Ugh!  I don't even want to bore you with the details.  That is reason #1 why you're seeing this brand new blog I designed - Ta da! Okay, blog I designed thanks to the easy to use and free templates provided by Blogger (shout out), but don't judge me.  Remember, I'm still new here.

I apologize for the length of this first post, I just want to let you all know what you're getting into here.  First, I'll be writing about my job finding woes (or lack thereof.)  I also started a garden last week (yes, I know it's February, but I discussed it with my husband and he's aware we may end up with a container garden jungle overtaking the dining room) so I will update that regularly as well.  Oh yeah, my friends are getting married, so not only will I have to diet and exercise to fit into a dress, but I will be helping to plan the wedding and will have to write a speech as Matron of Honor.  Don't think I won't be fretting about that constantly!  You'll probably also hear about my kooky family and friends.  Let me introduce you to some names you will probably see a lot - There's my husband who will from here on out be recognized as The Talent; my good friend who will be known as The Enforcer; my two children to be named Big A and Little A (take that as you will); my pug-lovin' friend who is set to marry The Enforcer, we'll call him Biscuit; and my best friend whom you all know as Ms. Attitude (see her blog at http://lifewithattitude.blogspot.com/.)
